Amity Shlaes is a preeminent historian of American economic and political life, and the author of four New York Times bestsellers: The Forgotten Man, The Greedy Hand, Coolidge, and Great Society. National Review called The Forgotten Man the finest history of the Great Depression ever written; The Economist made Coolidge an editor's choice for 2013. She chairs the board of the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation, is a winner of the Hayek Prize, a two-time finalist for the Loeb Prize, and a 2021 Bradley Prize recipient. A former Wall Street Journal editorial board member and Bloomberg and Financial Times columnist, she writes for Forbes and National Review and serves on the Hoover Institution's board of overseers.
